THE DOCTRINE: The Beliefs that make the difference (Part 2)
1 Timothy 4:1 “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;”
There are what is called, The doctrines of devils. Now, it says some shall leave the faith, leave the doctrine and then give heed, taking teachings of devils. What is the aim of these doctrines of devils? The aim is simply to get the man neutralized. When a man or a person believes a lie, the lie disables the faith. The grace of God that the man would have enjoyed is being disabled by his new beliefs. So the aim of the devil is to get us disabled; unable to attain. Bear in mind that when God made man, He made us in His image to be like Him; the likeness there is to show dominion. Dominion is the hallmark and the pride of a man; When I say man now, I mean male and female. Being in control, having a territory of reign is your pride but the man fell and was unable to show dominion. The man rather became a subject to sin and to evil. The devil became the lord of the man’s life but God had planned that the man would be in His image and His counsel, that would always stand. The Lord God planned to restore the man back to his status and dominion. The man must be in His image so he can be like Him in dominion. We saw that the Lord had put everything in Christ. In Him we live, in Him we move, in Him we have our being.
Colossian 1:16-17, 19 “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;”
The Lord has put everything that had to do with all goodness in Christ and then he said You are complete in Him. Know that you are in Him; As many as are born again, they have been baptised into the body of Christ and that puts you in a different world from the world we live. Though we are in the world, we are not of the world; we belong to another world, God’s Kingdom. In other words, in Christ.
There are many things in Christ which we must come to believe and appropriate. One of them is the Doctrine of Redemption.
THE DOCTRINE OF REDEMPTION
Colossians 1:12-14 “Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:”
This is one verse of scripture I will keep on teaching everywhere I go. In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins. It is not a promise. It is what God has done. You, being in Christ, He is saying you have redemption through His blood.
Now, what is redemption? It is a word we are familiar with. In simple terms it means salvation, freedom that is bought with a price. Now, the freedom is from the bondage to sin. Maybe you do a bad deed, feel wrong about it and repent but not too long, you are back there, doing the same things again. Why? Last time, you felt sorry but not too long you are back there and it happens again and again. A man who was a drunkard was told by his doctor to stop drinking and that the drinking habit would kill him. After investigating his vital organs, it was discovered he had three months to live. If he would stop drinking the time can be elongated. He thanked the doctor for the diagnosis but said he would try. Sad to say, he could not stop, He died. He was still drinking. He knew it was killing him. He knew he was dying but could not stop. Why? that is what they call bondage to sin. He was a slave. He had become a slave to that which controls him.
Understand that sin is a task master. Sinners do not have control over what they do. The sin controls them.
